8/2/15 to 8/8/15: Slogging Along

After a relaxing few days in Long Island, I was hoping to feel well rested this week.  Unfortunately, my legs were flat and I couldn't muster up anything that felt like a good quality run.  And thus, all I did was slog along.

On Sunday, with limited free time I ran a bit of a longer tempo, but was uncomfortable after sitting in the car for most of the afternoon.  On Tuesday, I cut my workout short - I hit my splits nicely, but wanted to lie down and fall asleep on the spot.  Not a normal type of fatigue for me at the track.  That along with some minor shin discomfort made the decision easy.

On Thursday I finally started to feel a little bit better.  After a 5/6 double, I played Ultimate (no subs) - and I was sluggish at the start, but by the end I felt fantastic.  I think the "strides" I ran to start of every defensive point helped finally wake my legs up.  Unfortunately, I was left with sore hamstrings that lingered into the Bobby Doyle 5 Miler yesterday.  The Grand Prix races don't mean as much to me since I finish so far back, but still - if I'm going to race, I'd like to race well.

The stuff:

2-Aug Long Island 14.22 AM: 4m at 7:30.
PM: 10+ with ~8 at 6:45.
3-Aug Easy/Easy 13.1 AM: 5m commute at 7:50.
PM: 8+ at 7:50
4-Aug Easy/Intervals 14.85 AM: 5m commute at 7:50.
PM: Commute then track.  800x4, then felt oddly drained.  Hit all the splits comfortably, but cut it short.
5-Aug Easy/Easy 12.35 AM: 6+ at 7:45.
PM: 6+ at 7:45.
6-Aug Easy/Moderate/Bees 11.6 AM: 5m commute at 7:50.
PM: 6+ at 7:30. Then a Bee's game with no subs.
7-Aug Easy/Easy 11.19 AM: 5m commute at 7:50.
PM: 6+ at about 8min.  Hamstrings are tight from Beez game.
8-Aug Easy 4.43 AM: An easy jog around the Charles.  Had one pickup to get some turnover.  Hamstrings still a bit sore.  Did some rolling afterward.
PM: Napped in the afternoon, no double today.

800-2:51.53
800-2:43.99
