11/30 to 12/6: Not Punishment For a Bad Race

This was a nice bounce back from last week and it's general crappiness as it relates to running. And while I went over 100 miles again, this was thanks to a more flexible schedule...not punishment for a bad race!...really.

On Sunday I started off with a pretty horrible run on Battle Road that was done solo, with a hangover, and on slippery snow covered trails.  And though my streak of 18 mile long runs ended with this 14 miler, I was still happy to get that run in.  Slipping and sliding at 8:15 pace, or whatever it was, took a lot more effort than most of my recent long runs and I came out of it healthy...which is usually a top priority.

Elizabeth and I had Monday off and we took advantage by going for a nice run together out to Belmont to see the school she worked on, and then a quick trip up Snake Hill Road. I continued on after we got home to go pick up a new pair of shoes at Marathon Sports, and ended the day with an easy 10 + 8 double.

The speed/interval sessions on Tuesday and Thursday were the focus of the week and both workouts went well.  I would love to be killing each workout and burning up the track, but I still prioritize mileage at the moment...I wonder if that is limiting my progress in any way. I am still pretty much right on target for the workouts - running the splits I should be based on what the workout is aiming to do, and based on my recent PRs.  But I'm also not seeing the gains I would have expected after averaging higher mileage for the past 12 weeks...whatever, I like the high mileage so I'm going to keep doing it!!!

Enough jibber jabber!
30-Nov Long Run 0:08:17 14 AM: Battle Road solo. Still snow on the ground and I had total shit footing for 10+ miles before I just stuck to the road. My legs felt totally sapped of energy.
1-Dec Easy/Easy 0:07:50 18.26 AM: 10m, with 7 with Eli out to Snake Hill Road and then to Marathon Sports to get some new kicks.
PM: 8+ around the Charles then extra to do a quick food shopping.
2-Dec Easy/Mile Training 16.81 AM: 4+ commute.
PM: 400x3/600/400x3/600/400x2 - averaged 1:12.83 for the 400s and 1:50.91 for the 600s.
3-Dec Easy/Easy 0:07:55 12.33 AM: 4m commute at 8min/mile.
PM:  8+ commute at 7:50/mile.
4-Dec Easy/BU Intervals 21.36 AM: 4m commute at 7:33 per.
PM: Commute home + run to BU + 600/800/1000x2/800/600/400/200 + run home. Got a little frisky on the first 6, everything else was close to on target. Starting at the tape confused me a little bit, I think.
5-Dec Easy/Easy 0:08:00 10.26 AM: 4m commute at 8min/mile.
6-Dec Fresh Pond 2 Lapper 0:06:00 8.9 AM: Fresh Pond 2-lapper in something like 29:30. I felt pretty good considering my typical Saturday morning routine. Gave a HS kid a hard effort on his 1 lap and then kept going.
